Our On-Site Construction Process
- Substructure & Sole Plate Verification: Before the timber frame kit arrives, our site teams inspect your prepared foundations and brickwork. We precisely level (-/+ 10mm maximum) and anchor the treated timber sole plates, the critical foundation line upon which your entire frame rests.
- Ground Floor Wall Panel Erection: Using specialised lifting equipment or cranes, our team erects the external and internal load & non load bearing wall panels, fixing them rigidly into place with engineered fasteners.
- Floor Installation: Intermediate floors are installed using high-performance engineered metal-web joists or I joists, covered with a structural floor decking to create a safe, stable platform for the next level.
- Upper Storeys & Roof Construction: The process repeats for upper levels, culminating in the installation of the prefabricated roof trusses and or the specifically designed roof structure.
- Airtightness & Weatherproofing: We install high-performance breather membranes and structural sheathing, handing over a structurally sound shell ready to be made watertight by your chosen follow on trades.

Do you handle the groundworks and foundations?
Our core expertise lies in timber frame design, manufacturing, and on-site frame erection. Typically, the groundworks, foundations, and concrete slab installation must be completed by your own local builder or groundworks contractor before we arrive. However, we provide your groundworkers with exact structural dimensions and tolerances to ensure a perfect fit.
At what point is the structure considered "watertight"?
A timber frame structure is generally deemed "watertight" once the external wall panels are erected with their weather-defense membranes installed, the roof trusses are fixed, and the roof felt and battens are completely applied. At this stage, the internal timber is fully protected from the elements, allowing interior fit-out work to begin even before the final roof tiles or outer brick skin are laid.
How long does it take to physically erect a standard house frame?
For a typical 3 or 4 bedroom detached house, the on-site erection of the timber frame structure (walls, floors, and roof trusses) usually takes between 5 to 8 working days, assuming standard site access and favorable crane conditions.
